Guys and Dolls
September 7 to 9, 2017 | 7:30 p.m.

AVERITT STARS COMMUNITY THEATER

Set in Manhattan during the Great Depression, this romantic musical comedy tells the story of big city gamblers and the women who love them. Con man Nathan Detroit desperately needs a permanent venue for his illegal, yet notorious, floating crap game. To raise funds, Nathan bets Sky Masterson, a high-rolling gambler, that he can’t persuade the “doll”—prudish missionary Sarah Brown—to go on a date with him, but Sky soon finds himself falling for his own con! Guys and Dolls takes us from the bustle of Times Square to the dance clubs of Havana to the sewers of New York City, demonstrating the great lengths to which a guy will go when he truly falls in love with a “doll.” Featuring some of Frank Loesser’s most memorable tunes, including the hilarious “Adelaide’s Lament” and the classic “Luck Be a Lady,” this classic performance is sure to delight audiences of all ages!
