Yes, you read that right. A dog park is finally coming to Statesboro – and right off the Blue Mile!
Using around $20,000 from the America’s Best Community Award earnings and funding from other grants, a 1.7 acre plot is being turned into a dog-friendly zone. The new dog park will be along the Willie McTell Trail next to the old Habitat ReStore on Cherry Street (see picture below). The park has a goal to be open June 1.
Everyone involved is VERY excited about this. As an additional fundraiser, you can also purchase a brick in memory of your beloved 4-legged friend. You can download the form here and mail it to the Humane Society (address on the form) or drop the form and your payment off at the Statesboro Convention and Visitor’s Bureau at 222 South Main Street.
